Tiffanys Thoughts on Identity

Tiffany Pedersen-Henry is the artist behind these beautiful pieces. When asked about her thoughts on Identity, this is what she replied:

«In simple terms, I view identity as our sense of self. Complexity comes with the many factors that affect how we see ourselves, especially in today’s society. Sometimes life just seems like a constant battle between the person we are and the person we want to be.

To me, identity lies somewhere in between those things. Our identity is always there, but oftentimes needs to be brought out or found. It’s something we hold close, something we need to protect. Identity is the core makeup of our very existence—it’s what we see in ourselves.

Now, imagine having to suppress some or all of your identity. Imagine being unable to express your true self freely, pretending to be someone you’re not in fear of being judged, harmed, or even killed. For many of us, this hypothetical is reality.»
